PSA denounces ‘padukot kasal’ or ‘deletion of marriage’ services
The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) strongly denounces the “padukot kasal” or “deletion of marriage” services proliferating on Facebook.
“We duly inform the public that this illegal undertaking is not an authorized activity of PSA,” the government agency said in a press release on Monday.
It said that robust security measures and strict access protocols are in place for the Civil Registry System database to prevent unauthorized access and alteration of documents.
It also pointed out that it has secure multiple physical and digital copies of documents in its database and it upholds traceability of records to ensure accurate verification of documents, especially that of the Certificate of No Marriage (CENOMAR).
“As such, documents from illegal transactions such as the “padukot kasal” or “deletion of marriage” are considered spurious and fraudulent. The public is strongly advised NOT to engage with such illegal services but to undergo the legal process for annulment. In coordination with proper authorities, legal action is being taken by PSA to deal with perpetrators directly or indirectly involved with this unlawful act,” PSA said.
