JobStreet launches new logo, mobile app as hiring seen picking up
Online job portal JobStreet has unveiled a new logo and look, and officially launched a new mobile application in its focus to help provide “jobs that matter”.
In a press briefing on Tuesday, Philip Gioca, JobStreet country manager for the Philippines, said that the company had been doing a lot of website development but saw the importance of developing its mobile offering as people were connecting and engaging with JobStreet through their mobile devices during the pandemic.
He pointed out that on JobStreet’s mobile platform, users can check their job applications and their data, and they can easily upload their resumes.
Meanwhile, Gioca said that, based on a JobStreet survey, companies have a “positive outlook that this pandemic will go away” and that jobs will increase in the next six months.
Gioca said the number of job postings on JobStreet’s Philippine site has increased in the past three months and now averages around 44,000 per month, although before the pandemic there were about 100,000 job posts on the site.
He also noted there used to be about 50 applications per job ad before the pandemic, but the number grew fivefold amid the health crisis. “Per job, now you can see 300 to 400 people applying,” he said.
He said the most in demand jobs now were around education, customer service, clerical and administrative support, security and protections services, IT and computer software, healthcare, finance, computer networking systems, and sales.
